Gillian and David Victor-Smith 13th March 2023

I am struggling to find words that adequately sum up how uplifting and moving we both found yesterday’s celebration of Sue’s life. Thank you to you all for putting together such a perfect tribute and we’ll remember it for a very long time. The wonderfully slow, poignant, serene pace set first by the Jan Gaberek Parce Mini Domine and then continued so sensitively by Peter Owen-Jones allowed time for reflection and tears as we all remembered our time with Sue. She was, indeed, a very special and remarkable person and we feel fortunate to have been allowed to share with her those happy, carefree days of young parenthood. Our memories of her when you all lived opposite us in Firgrove Hill are of her eternal optimism in the face of adversity - and she certainly experienced more than her fair share as life progressed. We remember the wonderful support she gave us in the early years of Farnham Youth Choir and those late evening meetings on Tuesdays. It was hard work in those pre-internet days. We’ll always be indebted to her for the enthusiasm and warmth that she demonstrated - she was such a loyal supporter! Her fortitude, buoyed by the devotion and love that you all showed her and underpinned by the down-to-earth philosophy of living a good life in love and generosity of spirit will live on, of that we have absolutely no doubt.
