My dear friend Sue of 35 years was struck down by MS but battled through with that sunshine smile of hers & with the help of devoted Mike & her beautiful family. I’ll miss her wicked smile & laughter that always greeted us after our long journey from Wales but it was worth it to see her face light up with the thought of sharing our latest family news & travel adventures. We met through being Mums of Farnham Youth Choir members & escorted them to competitions & concerts. We would both sit there & let the tears of pride run down our cheeks especially at their renditions of “The Water of Tyne & Elgar’s “The Snow”.I am writing this whilst listening to Alison Moorer’s version of “Carrickfergus” a spiritual Irish tune that Mike often played to us late at night. It brings back such precious memories, music was such a large part of their lives. One of our most fun times was when Sue & Mike came to the annual Elvis Convention in nearby Porthcawl. I persuaded them to come in fancy dress as I reassured them that EVERYONE dresses up! So Mike duly hired his Elvis outfit & wig & Sue wore a typical 50’s skirt with masses of petticoats to show off her tiny waist. We went along with members of my family all suitably attired to find that we were the exception to the rule so much so that we were all interviewed for a Welsh TV programme about the event. Fame at last! I bought several DVD’s which we often look at with hilarity. Sue will be missed by so many of us but I know I will be reminded of her every time I hear birdsong in my garden & see new shoots of life bursting through, she was so full of life. Sadly I missed Sue’s Service but thanks to technology have managed to see the beautiful occasion, so original & unique, just like my dear friend Sue. X

We will cherish our memories of Sue and times together. A wonderful friend, she had a wicked sense of humour and was such a caring person. Thank you for the beautiful Order of Service. We have read it many times, enjoyed all the cheery pictures of Sue and the family and been amazed at the breadth of the wonderful songs and lovely artwork from the family members young and old. Nice, too, to be reminded of Sue’s love of her Rock Choir and the many causes she supported. We were so sorry not to have been able to be at the service but we know Sue would be so pleased! The beautiful, proud and fun-loving life that she had as wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many bursts forth from the pages. She was loved and will be sorely missed by so many.

Sue was such an exceptional person. I can honestly say I never heard her grumble. In fact one day she taught me a lesson I shall NEVER forget....I was having a grumble to her about something I could no longer manage to do, or somewhere I could no longer go.....can’t remember what it was, but I shall never forget what she said! Very gently, she whispered “Jacqui - don’t bother about it....I can’t even scratch my own nose.” How that went through me! What a valuable lesson she taught me that day! I shall never forget your dear Sue and the fortitude with which she coped with her problems. I remember too, how proud she was of her family, and the great, great delight she had when little Iris arrived! Her enthusiasm was contagious ! We all waited to see the latest photo of Iris as she grew! I loved the one with the daisy chain on her head! And she was always so aware of the care Mike excelled in providing. In spite of her afflictions - Sue squeezed out joy from the blessings which came her way. I shall never forget her. She was such an example, and faced life with such fortitude. Remembering her with love and thanks.... Rest peacefully dear Friend.
